Our Story
Art Week Galveston is dedicated to promoting the arts and fostering creativity within the community. Our focus is on creating a platform for artists to connect with art enthusiasts and patrons, cultivating an environment that celebrates artistic expression and cultural diversity.
This weeklong event celebrates Galveston’s rich cultural scene, showcasing the island’s vibrant artistic talent and strengthening the bonds within our creative community.
Inspired by local artists Karla Mock and Michael Basham, Art Week was born from a shared vision to elevate and unite Galveston’s arts landscape.
Through Art Week, we aim to remind visitors and residents alike that Galveston is so much more than its beaches—it’s a thriving hub of imagination and artistry.
Art Week’s programming reflects the collaborative energy that defines Galveston’s art community. Karla Mock and Michael Basham, together with Sarah Piel, Sophia Longoria, and countless community partners, crafted an event that embraces every facet of the arts—visual, literary, culinary, performance, and music—creating a celebration as diverse and dynamic as the island itself.
